1. Ask Shawn Collins: ASOS and Affiliate Marketing
What is your perspective on the recent interview over at New Media Age magazine with Nick Robertson, CEO of ASOS?
First, let’s start with the quote that’s gotten the UK affiliate blogs stirred up…
"Next year we'll reintroduce affiliate marketing but as it should be, as opposed to affiliates as they were. [There'll be] no silly commissions being paid to grubby little people in grubby studios growing income at our expense, getting in the way of genuine sales."
Now unless there is some sort of language barrier there, and I don't think there is, apparently Nick is a little confused or something.
I can't really imagine what the motive is behind that statement, but if he really anticipates relaunching the affiliate program with that perspective, I think he’s in for a rude awakening.

2. eComXpo, Web 2.0 and a video
The fifth eComXpo kicks off in a couple weeks (March 20-22, 2007), and they’re expecting a big crowd.
They've got over 40 presenters, more than 8,000 attendees and 300+ exhibitors in the affiliate, search and interactive marketing field.
Some of those presenters include Sam Harrelson, Scott Jangro, Jim Kukral and myself - we're teaming up for a panel at eComXpo on Web 2.0
Registration for eComXpo is free, and they also have a thing called eComXpo University where you can get access to previous presentations from eComXpo for $49.95.
Check out a funny commercial for eComXpo at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apUUokThGDU.

5. AuctionAds Paying 100% of Revenue
ShoeMoneyMedia Group Inc. and MediaWhiz Holdings recently launched AuctionAds, a new way for affiliates to monetize their traffic by using the eBay affiliate program.
AuctionAds enables both international and domestic affiliates to display dynamic ads via the eBay affiliate program without any programming skills. It’s just a matter of copy and paste.
For the time being, AuctionAds is focused on growth and they are paying out 100% of revenue to their publishers.
When affiliates promote AuctionAds and their visitors click on an AuctionAds listing, and then take an action on eBay, the affiliate earns commission. Affiliates are paid the first of the month for revenue generated the previous month.
Sounds like a great opportunity for niche sites and blogs - I’m going to try it out.
