1. ScratchBack TopSpots Widget
There is neat, new service from Jim Kukral called ScratchBack, which features the TopSpot widget.
It’s basically an online tip jar where friends and fans of a blog or site can make a donation, and in addition to good karma, they get a text or image ad that appears in the widget.
The pricing varies depending on the person featuring the TopSpot widget on their site or blog - it can be anywhere from $1 and up per ad slot.
The ad period is determined by the site or blog owner and it can be 24 hours, 1 week or 30 days. And the number of ads in the widget can be 5, 10, 15 or 20.
It’s a cool way for somebody to show their appreciation for a blog they read, and you could use it to advertise an affiliate link, too.
Just pick an affiliate program with the same target audience as the site or blog with the TopSpot widget. It’s a quick, cheap and easy way to test, and you might come up with a big money maker.

3. Tell Your Google AdSense Story
Google AdSense is running a story contest, and they want to hear from you about your experience with AdSense.
They have an example video up from Tim Carter of AskTheBuilder.com. I’ve created a video of my AdSense story, too.
If you’d like to enter, you will need to shoot a video (2 minutes or shorter) about your story with AdSense; fill out their submission form; and submit your video as a video response to Tim’s video on YouTube.
Google AdSense will review submissions and pick a few videos to be featured on the AdSense blog in the coming weeks.

5. Search Engine Strategies of SES
I was checking out the natural search results for Affiliate Summit on Google, as I do regularly, and I was surprised at one of the paid ads that was triggered.
There was an ad for the upcoming Search Engine Strategies conference in Chicago.
I thought maybe it was a mistake, so I tried searching on the exact phrase with quotation marks around it (”Affiliate Summit”). I still got the SES ad.
I was intrigued, so I tried a couple of other queries. A search for DMA also brought up the SES ad. Then I searched for SMX. Again, I got the SES ad.
Now I realize there is nothing illegal about bidding on the brands of competitors, but it does break “The Golden Rule“.
6. Cookie Stuffing by Coupon Affiliates
Kellie Stevens of AffiliateFairPlay has published a study on the incidence of forced clicks (a.k.a. cookie stuffing) occurring on affiliate coupon sites.
With her research, Kellie sought to determine whether the recent increase in discussion of the cookie stuffing issue in the affiliate marketing community was correlate to an increase in the activity by affiliates.
The report, “Prevalence of Forced Clicks on Coupon Sites,” covers her methodology, results, and conclusions.
Kellie also blogged about the issue, as did Scott Jangro and Lisa Picarille.
Plus, there is a long, contentious thread about the issue on ABestWeb.
