1. Affiliate Tip - Remember Your Logins
According to the AffStat 2004 Report, 40% of affiliates actively promote 51 or more affiliate programs. That means a whole lot of affiliates are juggling a whole lot of affiliate logins.
Personally, I'm actively promoting affiliate programs through Affiliate Fuel, ClickBank, Commission Junction, CPA Empire, Kolimbo, LinkShare, MaxBounty, Performics, Primary Ads, Shareasale, plus a bunch of independent programs with their own logins.
In the past, I used Gator to try and keep track of my logins, but that stopped due to spyware concerns. Next, I tried keeping track of things with a Notepad file, but that was a hassle.
Recently, I came upon my favorite new tool, RoboForm, which is a password manager, form filler, and password generator.
It enables you to autosave passwords in your browser, autofill passwords to login forms, click login buttons for you, fill personal info into online forms, save offline passwords & notes, generate secure random passwords, and encrypt passwords and personal data using 3-DES.

2. Direct Mail for Affiliate Marketers
In mid September, a bunch of affiliate managers got together in NJ to chat about various issues in the industry.
One topic we discussed was recruiting affiliates via email. There were a few of us that mentioned using Link Capture to identify and contact affiliates.
Link Capture is a useful tool, because it enables you to build a list of prospects based on various parameters, and then you can automatically email them from the software. And to eliminate emailing the same prospect twice, Link Capture highlights any prospect that was previously contacted.
But the talks became somber when somebody mentioned that every time we sent an email to try and recruit a new affiliate, it had to be CAN-SPAM compliant.

3. eComXpo - Affiliate Conference Online
I was just reading the blog of iGive.com Founder & CEO, Rob Grosshandler, and was intrigued to see a soft launch announcement of eComXpo.
According to Rob, eComXpo will be a place where 'a bunch of folks' attempt to create a "big-tent" event for the affiliate marketing industry: a single, independent venue where all involved in this industry can educate, be educated, meet, and have fun'.
It's going to take place completely online, and he expects to have over 100 presentations, spread over 3 days.

4. Affiliate Opinions: Communication is King
'Communication is VERY important. With many programs to promote, it's not possible to check everyone's site for current promotions etc.
I love when affiliate managers email me letting me know what is going on with their site/program. It really helps me keep things up to date and get out merchants promotions in a timely manner.'

6. Affiliate Stat: Few Know the Rules
I was reading a thread in a marketing forum recently, and somebody asked which affiliate programs permit pay per click search engine advertising.
I replied that whenever you are in doubt, you should read the affiliate agreement, since some programs forbid PPC bidding for their trademarked name(s) and/or certain terms, and if the affiliate is caught, the agreement might stipulate that the merchant has the right to charge back, and/or disallow any and all commissions.
A number of affiliates didn't seem to like the approach of reading the rules first. One replied, "It's always easier to get forgiveness than permission in anything...just do it."
